Teak is a type of hardwood found mostly in tropical countries. Since the environment is humid, teak tree requires plenty of moisture to survive. Nonetheless, it is often used for the production of quality furniture around the world.

Usually, teak wood is used in the manufacturing of furniture like benches, sofas and lounge chairs. Because of the warm color of teak, the furniture produced with it is usually used outdoors.

Placed at the porch or the yard, teak furniture is often more weather-resistant than other types of furniture and is often enjoyed for many generations. Among popular choices for teak furniture enthusiasts are backless benches. Backless benches, often sold for about $400 can be conveniently used for outdoor picnics and grill-outs. As for other kinds of benches, some are designed with crisscrossing patterns. These are called cross back benches. Usually, these are priced from $300 to $400. Teak benches that have “curved backs” have similar prices.

Wood benches have classic design which are vertical wood slats placed congruently at the back. Classic designed teak benches, which can seat two people, are often priced at more than $700. Classically designed teak benches mix well with mellow interior designs, if ever they are placed inside the home.

“Tivoli” benches on the other hand, have a more Polynesian look to it, with finer wood slats used for the back. These benches also have more compact and rounded features. Usually about four feet long, “Tivoli” benches made of teak can comfortably seat more than one person.

Benches that can seat three persons on the other hand span about 64 inches, and have a thinner teak frame. Glider benches, which are larger than regular teak benches are the most expensive of teak benches. Glider benches are often placed near swimming pools or large gardens. Because of the size, glider benches are often used for leisure reading and similar activities with loved ones or friends. Often, teak furniture is designed simply, with no color to distract the natural honeyed textures of teak.

Often, the largest teak glider benches are priced at more than a thousand dollars per piece. If you’re looking for something less expensive but about the same size, “royal benches” would suffice. “Royal benches” are about five feet across, and have ample support for both the back and for the weight of those seated. Made with fine bamboo slats, royal benches can comfortable seat more than three people at a time.
